Hot Jazz Saturday NightWhen HOT JAZZ SATURDAY NIGHT was pulled from WAMU's schedule in June 2018, after nearly 38 years on the air, listeners threw a fit. When there was a change in management in August 2020, the show returned a few weeks later. It now airs from 7 until 10 p.m., featuring as it did before, vintage jazz, swing, and recordings by major entertainers from the '20s, '30s, and '40s. Rob also features repertory jazz bands from the 1970s to current times. HJSN has been described as a "curated" music show in the core tradition of what constitutes public radio. Rob provides history and context for the recordings and artists featured and frequently strays from the well-worn paths that have overlooked so much worthwhile music and performers. It's a show that is hard to classify and well worth sampling. Check it out. Each week's show streams for one week beginning the Monday after it airs, www.hotjazz.org.
